The AAP’s newborn jaundice guideline was rewritten in 2022 and raised the phototherapy thresholds that had stood since 2004; the thirty-minute cesarean figure that appears across the internet dates from 1988 and describes hospital capability rather than a clinical standard. Where an article states a threshold or an interval it names the source, and for a delivery that happened some years ago the guidance in force at the time is what governs, not the current version.
